Mushroom Project
This project was based on the colourings and patterns found on mushrooms. I wanted to use a mass producing technique yet create individual original large scale wall hung pieces. My technique included ripping clay whilst still soft and just out of the mould, and re-joining and manipulating it. To encourage natural movement and distortion, each piece was stacked unevenly in the kiln. Looking microscopically at the fungus was inspiration for the glazes and oxides used. This plate was exhibited in the Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern for the 'Halloween Tate Take Over' in 2009.
