COFAonlineUNSW (2011) Considerations for choosing technology for teaching [Online] available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lNMd3zRYrY (accessed 21.07.25)

Pedagogy before technology. Start with something simple with technical support.

Educational application. Blended delivery.

The introduction to the technology is technically appropriate.

What are my circumstances as an educator? What are my students needs? Make an informed choice.

What is fit for purpose? Students value technology when it adds to their learning, not when it is seen as a gadget or bolt on. The technology needs to challenge their learning. What can it bring?

Let the content drive the technology, not the other way around

You need teaching strategies to support the technology

What are my key pedagogical ideas and how does my chosen technology support it?

What skills do we want our students to learn? What are our students LOs? What will stimulate learning?

What am I comfortable using?

When students use technology for learning is different to using it for pleasure.

What is the students outcome? What should they expect?
