CRJ - Week 6

CRJ

Reading Rabeea’s comments on the Week 6 Forum has made me realise that I need to mention Constructive alignment, in that it highlights the need for activities to directly develop assessment competencies. Although my class is stand alone, maybe the inclusion of a follow up meet for students to discuss findings could result in more motivation to take part in all aspects of the workshop, developing the class into a mini course containing: pre-class webcast, mini quiz, in-class workshop, post-class feedback and post-class reflective seminar session.

After reading about our evaluation steps and re-reading my forum response, I reflect that I need to ensure that I am clear with my evaluation criteria. To create a more thorough, systematic, rigorous, balanced and hopefully more accurate evaluation I want to focus on: 1. How well my flipped classroom, and specifically, my pre-class activity prepared students to all begin the workshop with a foundational knowledge of colouring clays. 2. Focus on how my flipped classroom has the potential to make learning more efficient and convenient, positively impacting students LO’s and how the learning material supports this. 3. Finally, I am going to evaluate how well my flipped classroom was integrated. This aspect will look at pre-class activities, in class collaborative discussion and the potential for a further development in which a follow up group meeting acts as a formative aspect. By considering this structure it will ensure I develop a pedagogically sound lesson and clear evaluation.

Reading “Week 6: Evaluating Flipped Classroom Approaches – Step Two Points” I need to ensure that I reflect on my responses in my evaluation: Identify and clarify what is working well and could be continued. Identify and clarify what is not working well and could be improved.

This week I have been making sure that I focus on the evaluation preparation points. I eel that I have taken a bit of a back seat on the forums this week due to time constraints.
