What are the most important things you learned from this Learning Conversations experience, about giving and receiving effective feedback?
How could you apply what you learned to developing the way you provide feedback to your HE students?
I have found the experience of reading and responding to other peers’ reflections the most valuable in terms of learning. It has not only allowed me to broaden my view on teaching within other subjects, but has also allowed me to see the scholarship applied to new situations which I initially had not appreciated from just reading myself. This has allowed me to deepen my learning and seen new ways in which I can then apply it to my teaching practice. I believe that by continuing to learn in this way, whether throughout the remaining of this PGCHE, or beyond, that it will continue to evolve and enrich my teaching.
I have found this this experience of giving and receiving constructive feedback more beneficial than I could have imagined and therefore will endeavour to apply it to my teaching for my students. I believe that time plays a key role in the process, so will consider leaving a space for students to live with the new knowledge learnt, and then have specific sessions dedicated to feedback and reflection within my freelance teaching.
